Competition launched to help drive the future of Queensland's unique environment

On 4 June 2010, Reverse the Effect, brisbanetimes.com.au, Channel 9, 4BC Radio and Ford Australia, teamed up to offer Queensland motorists the opportunity to win a brand new Ford Fiesta ECOnetic - Australia's most fuel-efficient car¹ valued at over $26,000*.

The competition was launched to raise awareness about how motorists can help drive environmental action in Queensland through Reverse the Effect.

Reverse the Effect has received a large amount of interest through the competition, and the program has already seen an increase in the number of Queenslanders helping to balance their vehicle emissions.

"We are very pleased with how the competition is progressing and the number of Queenslanders that are choosing to voluntarily balance their emissions through Reverse the Effect," said Colin Forker, Chief Executive Officer at Ecofund Queensland.

"If numbers continue to climb, we expect to see a significant increase in the environmental outcomes for Queensland as result of this initiative," said Mr Forker.

The competition is free to enter and is open to all Queensland residents who complete a form via the brisbanetimes.com.au/rte or reversetheeffect.com.au websites.

Reverse the Effect will be promoting the competition at a number of events during the months of June and July such as the Caravan, Camping and Touring Holiday Show and the RACQ Motorfest.

The competition closes on 6 August 2010 and the winner will be drawn on 9 August 2010.
